Web Development

Introduction to Web Development

Web development is the building and maintenance of websites. It is the work that happens behind the scenes to make a website look great, work fast and perform well with a seamless user experience. Web developers do this by using a variety of coding languages. The languages they use depends on the types of tasks they are performing and the platform on which they are working.

Web development skills are in high demand worldwide and well paid too.

Making web development a great career option.

The field of web development is generally broken down into two parts :

1. Front-end development

2. Back-end development

1. Front-end development :

Front-end development is the development of the website's layout, design, and interactivity so that a user can see and interact with the website directly. The coding languages used in front-end development are HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

2. Back-end development :

Back-end development refers to server-side development. It focuses on database, scripting, website architecture. It contains behind the scene activities that occur when performing any actions on a website. Code written by back-end developers helps browsers to communicate with database information.

The server-side languages are PHP, Ruby, Python, and Java.

If both front-end and back-end development appeal to you, you could consider becoming a Full-Stack developer. Full-Stack developers take care of both the FrontEnd and Backend and need to know how the web works on all levels to determine how the client and server-side will relate.
